Among the ten rarest gems in the world !

Named after Bohemian Edward Taaffe who discovered the first Taaffiete from a box of Sri Lankan spinels in 1945. The stone displayed a double refraction which was uncharacteristic of spinel.

Taaffeite comes in m auve, purple pink, and red. Reds are extremely rare. If you collect all the faceted gems in the world you would get less than a handful a thousand times rarer than Diamond.

We have come across a couple of Star stones, as well as color-change stones, which are extremely rare - just a few - less than ten specimen documented so far.
